Configuration to settlement

How ACH & Direct Debit fits the Invoice Crowd payment boundary

Connection, customer checkout and final settlement are separate stages. Read the status and limitations before showing the method on a live invoice.

Connect the merchant account

Credentials and mode stay tied to the selected business.

Enter only the fields the provider requires

Connect Stripe or GoCardless to the selected business. Stripe ACH uses the existing Stripe account and a per-invoice Allow US bank payment setting; Stripe hosts bank selection, verification and mandate acceptance.

  • Selected business profile
  • Stripe or GoCardless account
  • Write-only credential editing

Confirm provider eligibility before rollout

Direct-debit schemes, currencies, collection windows and eligibility vary by provider and merchant location.

  • Merchant country and account
  • Invoice and settlement currency
  • Provider fees and review

Understand the customer path

Availability is evaluated before a customer enters checkout.

Choose the supported one-time path

For an eligible one-time USD invoice, enabling Stripe ACH offers card and US bank payment in the same hosted Checkout Session. GoCardless uses its separate billing-request and mandate flow where supported.

  • Server-owned amount
  • Bound invoice allocation
  • Provider-hosted bank step

Read the recurring-payment boundary separately

GoCardless supports the documented recurring direct-debit path with provider-bound mandates and settlement verification. The Stripe ACH invoice setting currently applies to one-time USD Checkout; Stripe card subscriptions remain a separate flow.

  • One-time and recurring differ
  • Existing bindings may be compatibility-only
  • Stripe ACH is one-time only

Verify before recording money

The final local state follows provider evidence, not the browser.

Match the commercial record exactly

For Stripe ACH, only an authenticated, account-scoped payment_intent.succeeded webhook may settle the invoice. GoCardless likewise requires the exact customer, mandate, allocation, amount, currency and confirmed provider state.

  • Merchant account and mode
  • Allocation, amount and currency
  • Successful provider state

Keep the current limitation visible

Stripe ACH requires an eligible Stripe merchant, customer and one-time USD invoice with the invoice setting enabled. Bank selection, verification and mandate acceptance stay inside hosted Stripe Checkout.

  • No inferred settlement
  • Pending stays pending
  • Mismatch fails closed

Integration facts

What to verify before using ACH & Direct Debit

The fields below describe the current Invoice Crowd path; the provider remains the source for merchant eligibility, fees and regional availability.

  • Availability

Stripe-hosted US bank payments and GoCardless direct debit are active within their documented eligibility boundaries.

  • One-time payment

Eligible one-time USD invoices can offer Stripe card plus US bank payment in hosted Checkout; GoCardless provides a separate billing-request and mandate flow.

  • Recurring payments

GoCardless supports the documented recurring direct-debit path. The Stripe ACH invoice setting is currently limited to one-time USD Checkout.

  • Merchant setup

Connect an eligible Stripe or GoCardless merchant account. Stripe ACH is enabled per invoice and keeps bank selection, mandate acceptance and verification inside Stripe Checkout.

  • Settlement evidence

A signed provider event must match the merchant account, invoice allocation, amount, currency and successful provider state before settlement.

  • Regional fit

Direct-debit schemes, currencies, collection windows and eligibility vary by provider and merchant location.

  • Current boundary

Stripe ACH is currently limited to eligible one-time USD invoice checkout. Bank details are handled by Stripe rather than collected or stored by Invoice Crowd.

  • Invoice data

Amount, currency and allocation are derived from the current server-side invoice state.

  • Customer result

A provider screen or browser return is a locator, not sufficient settlement proof.

  • Retries

Durable attempts and stable provider identities prevent an uncertain response from becoming an unbounded duplicate payment.

  • Provider fees

Gateway fees, exchange costs and settlement timing come from the merchant agreement, not the Invoice Crowd subscription.

  • Alternative gateways

Configure another active provider when this gateway does not support the merchant, customer, currency or collection model.

Questions

ACH & Direct Debit and Invoice Crowd, answered

Is the ACH & Direct Debit integration currently available in Invoice Crowd?

Yes. Eligible one-time USD invoices can offer Stripe-hosted US bank payment when Allow US bank payment is enabled, and GoCardless remains available for supported direct-debit mandate flows. Provider eligibility still applies.

What do I need to connect ACH & Direct Debit?

Connect an eligible Stripe or GoCardless account to the selected business. For Stripe ACH, use a one-time USD invoice and enable Allow US bank payment on that invoice. Stripe or GoCardless controls merchant eligibility, fees, regional availability and settlement timing.

How does ACH & Direct Debit one-time checkout work?

Stripe ACH reuses the ordinary hardened Stripe Checkout route: an eligible invoice offers card and US bank payment, while Stripe hosts bank selection, mandate acceptance and verification. GoCardless uses its separate billing-request and mandate flow.

Does ACH & Direct Debit support recurring payments in Invoice Crowd?

GoCardless supports the documented recurring direct-debit path with provider-bound mandates and settlement verification. The Stripe ACH invoice setting currently applies to one-time USD Checkout, not Stripe ACH subscriptions.

How does Invoice Crowd decide that a payment succeeded?

A browser return never settles the invoice. Stripe requires an authenticated, account-scoped payment_intent.succeeded webhook that matches the exact invoice, allocation, amount and currency; GoCardless requires equivalent provider-confirmed evidence.

Are gateway fees included in Invoice Crowd pricing?

No. Provider transaction fees, foreign-exchange costs, settlement timing and account terms are controlled by the gateway and merchant agreement. Check the provider before activation.
