An invoice email subject line tells the recipient what document arrived, who sent it, which invoice it is and when action is due.
Put the invoice number and business name in the subject, add the due date when useful, and reserve urgent language for genuinely overdue items.

The best subject line is specific, calm, and searchable. Include the invoice number, useful status, seller identity where needed, and due date. Avoid vague subjects such as “Invoice attached” and manipulative wording that looks like spam.
The invoice email itself should identify the amount, due date, payment method, contact, and attached invoice or secure link. Before you send an invoice, verify the recipient and attachment. If you attach the invoice, use a filename that includes the invoice number and customer-safe context.
Keep the subject specific and recognizable
Use your business name and the invoice reference consistently. Put the action and due date in the email body, where you can explain them clearly. Avoid alarmist subjects for an invoice that is not overdue. If you resend a corrected document, identify it as a correction and explain which version the customer should process to prevent duplicate payment.
Example
Invoice IC-1048 from Northstar Studio – due 30 August 2026 is clearer than 'Important document' or 'Please see attached'.
What to watch for
Avoid all-caps pressure, ambiguous attachments and payment-account changes in email without an independent verification step.
